- The Flynn Fletcher Saga -

Chapter 5

Dream a little dream of me Odelia Wilson.

There are many forces in the world. Forces that decimate cities with their terrifying strength and verocity and forces by their sheer relentless effort erode away landscapes that had been hardened by history but there was no force on God’s green Earth at this very moment that could have made Flynn think of anything else except for the name “Odelia Wilson”.  Each tick of the clock seemed to amplify his curiosity and anguish at the same time. Time was not moving quickly enough for Flynn (even though only 2 minutes had passed since he got the notification). Speaking of forces, this is when another immense force took over Flynn.

His imagination. He thought,

Odelia has to be someone amazing. As Flynn keeps reminding himself “Game recognizes Game”, Odelia would have only be drawn and contacted Flynn because she sensed Flynn to be someone of possessing top qualities, intelligence, looks and immense potential to have made the contact with him. Hence, she too must be a bearer of similar qualities (albeit to a lesser degree than Flynn) to know who she was reaching out to with her letter.

“Game recognizes Game” Flynn muttered under his breath with a smile. Truer words have not been said.

Sitting and leaning back into his chair, with arms behind his head, Flynn closed his eyes and unleashed his imagination into the wild, exploring every nook and cranny of what the future with Odelia would be like.

The Literary Luminary

Perhaps Odelia Wilson was the pen name of a famous, albeit reclusive, author. One who has had too many heartbreaks and has given up on love but pours out her desire of finding her dream guy in her novels where every hero she pens encapsulates Flynn to the tee in character, charm, suave and looks. The scene will be Flynn attending a posh literary event, rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of the literary world. Upon entering the room, he would instantly become the center of attraction. He would mingle and his remarks and subtle and clever humor would charm everyone. Odelia would be there as well and upon seeing Flynn would immediately know that it was him she had been dreaming and writing about all along. Mustering her courage, she would walk up to Flynn and introduce herself shyly. “Mr. Fletcher,” she would murmur, “I am Odelia..” but before she could finish her words, Flynn would complete her sentence by saying “.. Wilson. Yes, I know. I am Flynn from Slowly that you have been writing to”.

Odelia’s eyes will light up with disbelief at first and then inhibited joy will take over as the knowing sinks in. The man before her is not only the one she has been dreaming and writing about but also one whom she had a serious crush on and had wanted to confess that in her next letter to him! Her heart would beat like a hummingbird and Flynn would give her his trademark winning grin which would make Odelia’s knees buckle under the crushing weight of the his charm. Of course, the moment will be in slow motion as Odelia Wilson the famous romance novelist would fall and Flynn would catch her right before she fell and they would be locked in an embrace, face to face, feeling with their warm breaths caressing their faces and right then, in the most perfect of moments, Odelia would close her eyes awaiting the most romantic kiss of her life and …

*Ding Ding*

The phone disrupted Flynn’s blossoming romantic scene worthy of Odelia Wilson’s prize willing novel with a notification.

Flynn angrily grabbed his phone to see what evil could have been unleashed into the world of the living to disrupt the most perfect and potential future encounter between Flynn and Odelia.

“Dear residents, We have received multiple complaints regarding excessive music volume emanating from one of the units since yesterday. Such disturbances have been reported to cause discomfort to several residents. As stipulated in Section 3.31 of our building regulations, all residents are required to maintain music and noise levels within acceptable limits, especially during nighttime hours. We kindly urge adherence to these guidelines. Continued non-compliance may necessitate further actions to ensure the tranquillity and well-being of all residents. ”

Flynn flung his phone forcefully, fuming furiously and feeling framed. He also made a note to give his building a free concert later in the night by playing the entire rock collection he possessed.

Not wanting to let the negativity and envy of others take away his moment of happiness, Flynn sank back to his chair again closing his eyes and tried to get back to that most romantic scene that was put on hold. Yes, she was falling and..

Flynn fell asleep.

Apartment 33B

Not many knew that Flynn’s relentless playing of She’s Gone by Steelheart actually made a fan out of Steven Smith in apartment 33B. Well, Steven was also going through a breakup and none of the songs on his 2020s playlist (he was 20 years old) captured the pain and suffering he felt until he heard She’s Gone. That night, that song was blasted from Steven’s speakers late into the night escalating the matter that the building residents were warned about.

Well, that’s the preview of the story of Flynn the Fantastic. Many more things will happen I am sure, but all in good time.
