- The Flynn Fletcher Saga -

Chapter 3

The Reply

This was the worst day of Flynn’s life!

Flynn had made himself a nice cup of coffee and sat down with euphoric joy on his face and as expected Clara33xoxo’s letter was waiting for him on the app. He thought he was going to be treated to a long letter of adulation, admiration and of course the profession of her undying love. However, he was greeted with only two words.

“Yewwww, creep!!”

Flynn stared in horror at those words not believing that they were from the love of his life. How could this be? How could the goddess of his dream transform into a viper with such venomous words? How could the goddess who chose him amongst a pool of his physical and intellectual superiors cast a level 20 Dragonfire with a 200% critical hit attack spell when he was just a level 3 bard changing the strings on his lute? Yes, Flynn games too.

Tears welled up in Flynn’s eyes and he dropped his head on the table in anguish, crying his dream and hopes out. Pain has had Flynn on its speed dial for a while now and it was making a long-distance collect call. Flynn clutched his chest and continued sobbing.

*********

In the distance two birds were flying gracefully in the morning sky, starting their day looking for their first meal. They flew with grace and delicate gliding scanning the ground below for little critters that would their breakfast a deluxe one. However, they did not quite scan the skies as well and did not correct their flight path in time and crashed into each other. They fell to earth entwined, neither sure of what had happened nor why the earth was coming at them so quickly.

This certainly wasn’t a good day.

She’s Gone

She’s Gone‘ was a track in Steelheart’s first full-length album and has since gone on to become an anthem of its glam metal era, from its insane vocal range of its singer, Miljenko Matijevic, to being the go-to song for guys everywhere experiencing heartbreaks. Perhaps Miljenko Matijevic may have not expected its impact but this has certainly given the song an extended lifeline to its existence.

“In my life

There’s just an empty space.

All my dreams are lost,

Im wasting away…”

Oh how the words captured Flynn’s innermost thoughts and his feelings.

“…Forgive me girruuullll ulllllll…UULLLL!!!”

As Matijevic belted out the words that lead into the chorus, Flynn belted out his anguish in a key that did not match Matijevic’s at all. But that did not matter to Flynn now.. he was one in the embrace of the song that cradled his wounded heart and that was all that mattered.

Down below his apartment, Mr. Kingsley his 86-year-old neighbour who was hard of hearing was wondering why the street cats were out during the day screaming and went to check outside his window.
